Applying for PM Surya Ghar subsidy online is simple once you know the steps. This guide walks you through the complete online application process step by step.
Step 1: Visit the Official PM Surya Ghar Portal
Go to pmsuryaghar.gov.in. This is the only official government portal for PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. Beware of fake websites.
Step 2: Register Your Account
Click on ‘Apply for Rooftop Solar’. Enter your mobile number for OTP verification. Then enter your state and electricity distribution company (DISCOM) name.
Step 3: Enter Consumer Details
Enter your electricity consumer account number. This is available on your electricity bill. Your account will be verified with your DISCOM.
Step 4: Fill the Application Form
Provide: Your full name as per Aadhar, complete address, preferred system size (1kW to 10kW), bank account details for subsidy credit.
Step 5: Upload Documents
Upload scanned copies of: Aadhar card (front and back), Latest electricity bill, Bank passbook first page or cancelled cheque.
Step 6: Submit and Wait for DISCOM Approval
After submission, your DISCOM will review the application. They conduct a technical feasibility check for your rooftop. Approval typically comes within 15 working days.
Step 7: Choose Vendor and Install
After approval, select a DISCOM-empanelled solar vendor. They will install the system within 30 days. Do not choose non-empanelled vendors as it will void your subsidy.
Step 8: Net Meter Installation and Subsidy Credit
After installation, your DISCOM installs a net energy meter. Once inspection is done, subsidy of up to Rs 78,000 is credited to your bank account within 30 working days.
